Changing views on integration – from Enterprise Service Bus to API Gateway, Serverless and iPaaS
31 July @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm AEST
If your tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. Many of us have seen situations where this tunnel vision over time took hold. And for many of us involved in integration, this also has happened. This presentation wants to draw your attention to changing views regarding integration and regarding the technology for realizing integration. Important triggers for these changing views include cloud, web scale, new type of user interaction, IoT and real time, serverless – and real life experiences with enterprise integration. The enterprise service bus, that magic black box with all its connectors that you could simply plug into and that made integration of any system to any other system a simple goal to achieve – it was a beautiful concept that offered a great ride….
With further increased scale, tighter security requirements, faster change cycle, increased usage of standard applications (primarily SaaS) and the advent of cloud, that inspired new architecture patterns and insights such as domain driven design, microservices, CQRS, event sourcing, “dumb pipes, smart end points” combined with advances in technology the world has changed. Building on experience and concepts that have proven their worth and leveraging new insights and technologies, we are moving towards new ways of approaching different types of data flow. We may still call them integration – but we recognize that they are vastly different , and should be implemented in very different ways.
Data Science, Business Intelligence, Data Lake, Machine Learning and AI. Diverse terminology with a common goal: leverage data to realize business value. Through consolidated insight and automated processing, predictions, recommendations and actions. Using visualizations, dashboards, reports, alerts, machine learning models. Based on data. Data retrieved from raw sources into a data lake, wrangled into cleansed, enriched, anonymized and aggregated data sets and turned into business intelligence or used for training machine learning models, that in turn power Smart Applications. This session walks the audience through the start to end data flow on Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, Analytics Cloud, Big Data Cloud & Data Integration Platform. The session will discuss a data analytics challenge and will
– introduce the data science workflow that will be applied
– describe the steps (gather raw data into data lake – unstructured and relational, fast and big, explore and wrangle data, prepare single purpose data set, create visualization & train and deploy machine learning model)
– demonstrate the steps on Oracle public cloud services: Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, Analytics Cloud, Big Data Cloud & Data Integration Platform. The demo will reference: Oracle Autonomous Database, Event Hub and Data Hub and perhaps others.
The target audience is not a seasoned data scientist but instead an architect or senior developer who considers getting into data science and who wants to know what Oracle Public Cloud has to offer/how to get started on Oracle Cloud.
