Manish is a core member of Oracle Exadata product management team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, development and marketing of products and features related to Oracle Exadata Database Machine. He is esponsible to drive the development and launch of future generations of Oracle Exadata that integrate high performance software in an optimized hardware configuration to solve challenging problems related to performance, scalability, availability and data protection. Responsibilities include: • Gather inputs from Database and Exadata customers, validate and prioritize development plan, and write necessary documents to guide development • Work closely with Development and Documentation teams during the development process, ensure that the product functionality being built is consistent with customer expectations • Maintain deep relationships with key customers – as the Development advocate/sponsor for these customers • Work with customers directly, as well as Oracle Customer Support, Sales and Sales Consulting teams to understand customer usage patterns, help deployment of Oracle’s innovative technologies, and improve the adoption of best practices around Exadata, Oracle Database and relevant Oracle products • Work with Corporate and Field Marketing to evangelize Exadata, and help establish the Exadata brand within the customer base • Plan and execute product announcements, and help coordinate beta testing • Develop collateral such as technical and business white papers, success stories, data sheets, brochures, best practices and product presentations • Present at Oracle user group meetings, trade shows, customer sites, industry conferences, industry analyst meetings and at the Oracle Customer Visit Center • Track the Engineered / Converged System market landscape, as well as competitive products and features

Data Security with Exadata Database Machine

Security configuration and features are available at many levels in Oracle Exadata Database Machine. This session will focus on the storage and OS layers with an overview of the database-layer security options and best practices. We'll outline necessary requirements for system maintenance so the system will remain stable while offering suggestions on how security can be strengthened at the same time. While some basic Exadata knowledge is expected, no specific security knowledge is assumed. The session will be organized by the phases of deployment with an emphasis on the operational and ongoing security considerations. We'll cover specific security considerations and best practices when preparing for installation of a new machine, during deployment activities, after deployment completes, during database creation and configuration, and then address security considerations for operational management. The default security features provided in the Exadata Database Machine platform will also be described. The session will cover security requirements for applying patches and updates to the Exadata Database Machine and review security settings and configuration that should be examined during patch cycles.
