Welcome to the VIC Branch of the Australian Oracle User Group.

We provide meaningful presentation topics covering a wide range of Oracle-related areas such as database, hardware and Oracle Applications. We also provide industry updates for major events happening locally and overseas. We work closely with Oracle representatives in Melbourne, interstate and overseas.

The Victorian Branch is a very friendly community where we interact, communicate, socialise and exchange professional views.

We always welcome anyone who is interested or involved with Oracle products, be it on a beginner, professional or master-level. Opportunities also exist for people who wish to provide presentations to our members, and we are always happy to support this kind of involvement by providing a venue and catering where required. Presentation events can be held during lunch time, or in the evening and are usually held in a Melbourne CBD location.

Not sure if you are a member, or want to become a member - please click on Membership or, you go to the forgotten password page http://www.ausoug.org.au/pages/forgotpwd

We look forward to welcoming you to our next event.

Presentation 1: Oracle's Cloud presence in Australia

Recently, Oracle announced that its 29th Cloud Region will be located in Australia. This represents a range of opportunities for organisations looking to drive business value from the Cloud.

The focus of this session will be on:

  • Architectural approaches for the Cloud.
  • Oracle Cloud Services particularly IaaS and PaaS.
  • How to meet compliance requirements with Oracle Cloud.
  • What are the required security controls and how should you approach the risk conversation?
  • Experience in the real world with companies covered by State Government regulations, APRA and ASIC.

This session's presenter is Toby Knight. Toby is the Infrastructure Cloud Account Director at Oracle Australia, and has over 15 years of experience working with technology organisations. In his last role at Microsoft as Cloud Architect Director, he was responsible for setting GTM strategy for several markets for Microsoft Azure. He specialises in cloud architectures and security controls required by APRA and ASIC.

Want to see more happen in VIC for the Oracle community?  If you have a topic you would like to present, or know of someone interested in presenting, just contact one of the committee members or conferencemanager@ausoug.org.au and we will add it to the list.

Alternatively, if you would like us to organize a presentation on a topic, contact us and we will work to make it happen.
