You are invited to a free presentation featuring Chas Dye from Pure Storage; and including a continental breakfast.  But be quick as seats are limited so first come first served.  They will not last long.

Chas will be presenting based on live workload and demo using equipment at Pure Storage's HQ in Mountain View, California, USA.
During this demo the key points that will be covered are:

  • Performance - both from point of view of array and point of view or Oracle
  • Resiliency
  • Simplicity
  • Snapshots (and in particular the ways of cloning an Oracle database).

During the presentation the theme of best practice architecture will be discussed with reference to each topic.
As with all of Chas's presentations, he strongly encourages people to ask questions, so the session will be fairly interactive.

Presenter Profile

Charles “Chas” Dye is Pure Storage's very own Database Solutions Architect based out of our HQ in Mountain View, California.  Chas has literally decades of experience as a bona-fide DBA, optimizing Oracle physical and logical deployments from both engineering and operations perspective at places like Silver Spring Networks, Yahoo!, Opsware / Loudcloud, and eXcite, focusing on both OLTP and OLAP workloads.  Chas has authored several books on Oracle deployment and optimization, and is also both an aspiring amateur photographer and Hawaiian shirt enthusiast.

Chas’ job at Pure Storage is to act as a partner to our customers – to help them understand how to walk down the paths to optimize their applications for flash, and to generalize these learnings and publish them to the community in the form of best practices, whitepapers, benchmarks, and reference architectures.
