CONFERENCE SERIES 2008 - AN UPDATE

PROGRAM AND SPEAKER UPDATE

Both Perth and Gold Coast conferences have had a number of speaker changes and extra sessions being placed into their respective programs.  To ensure that you have the most up-to-date guide of what's on, please download a copy of the program (Perth or Gold Coast) and their session descriptions before you come.

The session descriptions are available from the program page of the conference website http://www.ausoug.org.au/2020/program.html.  These will help choose the best paper for you to attend.  All the keynote and invited speakers (Tom Kyte; Rich Niemiec, Dr Tim Hall, Mike Lehmann; Alyssa Johnson; David Peake; Roland Slee; Barry Matthews; Dylan Larson; Kamal Brar; David Barkess) have their paper abstracts and bios on that page as well.   

Perth
New Papers include:

  • Alyssa Johnson, Solution Beacon, has now agreed to run an additional session - "Release 12: Focus on Financials"
  • Jeannie Dobney is now presenting "The Great Debate: You should NEVER outsource your Applications DBA function!"
  • Phil Robinson, Lonsdale Systems, is now also presenting "Test-Driven Requirements".
  • Mark De-Stefanis from Oracle presents "Experience the Next Generation of MetaLink: My Oracle Support" and "Configuration Management within My Oracle Support (formerly Software Configuration Manager)"

Gold Coast
Mega 11g New Features Session for Developers & DBAs with Rich Neimiec

 It will be held at 7.30am on 14 October in Coolangatta 3 & 4.

Calling Developers and DBAs!  Join Rich Neimiec for a double session (that’s 1.5 hours!) covering the latest features and enhancements available in 11g, the newest incarnation of the Oracle RDBMS engine.  Using examples, gain valuable insight from Rich’s own experience and pose your “under-the-hood” questions to this renowned Oracle ACE.

REGISTER NOW AND AVOID THE RUSH AT THE CONFERENCE

The Perth and Gold Coast "Oracle with 20:20 Foresight" conferences offer the same quality Oracle speakers for a fraction of Oracle OpenWorld’s price.

You can still register online or via fax (download a registration form) for the Perth Conference until 5pm (est) Friday 3 October; after that you will need to register onsite on the day you attend.  If you intend going to the Gold Coast then you still have until next Friday (10 October) to register online or by downloading a copy of the registration form and emailing or faxing it back to us.  Alternatively you can register onsite from Monday 13 October.

WORKSHOP UPDATE

Members attending the Gold Coast conference are being offered two excellent workshops which are filling up quickly:
1. JDeveloper - presented by Chris Muir from Sage Computing Services; and
2. Administering R12 and Focus on R12 Financials prsented by Alyssa Johnson from Solution Beacon

Full details are available from Workshop Gold Coast. But be quick for as limited spaces are available.

Unfortunately the two workshops scheduled to be held on the day after the Perth Conference have been cancelled.

Oracle is also offering a Hands on Workshop at the Gold Coast
Oracle offers free tools and best practices on how to migrate 3rd-party databases and their related applications to the Oracle Technology Platform.  A half day Free workshop will be held on the day following each conference.  For more details of to register click onto

CUSTOMER MEETINGS WITH MIKE LEHMANN, ORACLE

Mike Lehmann, Senior Director of Product Management for the Java Platform Group at Oracle, is making some time available to schedule 1-1 meetings with customers. Oracle is currently arranging meetings to be held after the conference series.

Mike is an extremely talented speaker, and is great with customers, so customers are encouraged to take up this opportunity if they would like to hear first hand details around the acquisition/WebLogic Server and their relation to TopLink/Coherence/JRockit/Tuxedo, current product plans and roadmap for FMW Release 11 around the stack generally (Install/Upgrade/Enterprise Manager) and specifically the J2EE areas.

Mike Lehmann is responsible for the product management teams driving WebLogic Server, WebLogic Application Grid and Fusion Middleware Common Java Infrastructure.  He has over 15 years of industry experience leading product development, product marketing and product management teams.

His Availability:

Perth: Monday 13 October from 2.30pm

Gold Coast: Monday October - all day
